Reviews for GMAT Ninja Tutoring
GMAT Ninja has been around since 2008, and our founder has worked as a GMAT and GRE tutor since 2001. Despite the fact that we’ve never aggressively pursued online reviews, we’ve received TONS of them over the years, and this is our best effort to identify the reviews that best capture the spirit of GMAT Ninja: warm, brutally honest, and relentlessly thorough professionals who leave no stone unturned to help our students and applicants.
If you’d like more mountains of tutoring reviews, take a look at our pages on Yelp (including the many reviews cruelly hidden by Yelp’s algorithm) or on GMAT Club – or just keep reading to get a sampling of some of our favorites.

“I asked him frankly if his service was worth purchasing given its cost and my timeline, what he gave me was a refreshing level of brutal honesty and transparency… I felt like these guys were personally invested in my success, all while remaining realistic and grounded about the work that's to be done. Dave was… extremely emotionally intelligent (literally went life-coach mode on me a couple times), and patient (like, Dalai Lama levels of patience).” – Sam L on Yelp, improved by 160 points
“Charles is a fun-loving GMAT genius and crackerjack pedagogue. His lighthearted intensity makes boosting your score seem a matter of snapping together legos.” – trimetrus on GMAT Club, 730 on the GMAT
“He's analogous to a brilliant detective that teases out how your brain works - what are the strengths and shortcomings. You could tell he gets a kick out of taking up the challenge and becoming your personalized ‘GMAT Ninja’ to help you overcome this obstacle/burden.” - Wilther M on Yelp, improved by 140 points
“I also loved how on their website there was no bullshit about score guarantees and they were truly honest about how the process worked…. Bransen is honestly one of the smartest people I have ever met. He was able to quickly figure out what was preventing me from getting my dream score and taught me really good strategies to do well on the exam.” – Karishma M., on Yelp

I was able to make connections… and [Harry] was always encouraging me to keep at it (even through the bleakest moments when I toyed with the idea of giving up entirely).” - Elrum on GMAT Club, improved by 160 points
“I thought I was "bad at math" and needed to work more on concepts (wrong).... months later, armed with a 740, I ended up with admits to an HSW and multiple T10 schools with full rides.” – mbaburner01 on GMAT Club, improved from 700 to 740

Even though we call ourselves GMAT Ninja (um, maybe we’re not all that brilliant at branding or marketing, since we teach multiple tests?), we’ve always taught GRE prep alongside the GMAT, and our founder actually started teaching GRE students before he became a GMAT tutor in 2001.
Here are a few of our favorite reviews from GMAT Ninja students who took the GRE:
“Dana is an absolute professional. She got me to a GRE score that got me into multiple M7 business school programs in a relatively short time frame.” – Austin M. on Yelp
“Alex made the transition from GMAT to GRE a seamless one for me. I'm delighted to say that my GRE scores put me well into the scores accepted at top MBA programs!” – Dan S. on Yelp
“Dana is a star… Having tried my luck with two other tutors, I especially enjoyed Dana's commitment to understanding my weaknesses before offering solutions… I am now very happy at Chicago Booth!” – Deralexandre on GMAT Club

“Charles and his team are fabulous. They offer a full-service consulting practice well-capable of navigating students through the GMAT/GRE/MBA Applications/CasePrep… Charles became an invaluable source of perspective, brutal honesty, and a good friend.” – Andrew G on Yelp
“Matt was flexible for several months as I worked on my essays and practiced interviewing. I got honest appraisal and authentic encouragement at every turn - even when I doubted myself.” - Colleen on Yelp
“James was awesome to work with. He helped me put my story onto paper. He was the honest feedback that I needed to put my best foot forward on the essays. Also the turnaround was always great.” – Samuel D on Yelp

After more than 20 years as test-prep tutors, we’ve realized that test anxiety affects at least half of adult test-takers – and in many cases, anxiety has a bigger effect on students’ scores than any content or skill deficiencies.
With that in mind, we’ve spent much of the last decade developing ways to help our students mitigate test-day nerves. Here are a few reviews from students who focused explicitly on overcoming test anxiety during their time with us:
“[Alex] recommended that I get help from Jen Schumacher [Erika’s mentor and predecessor] on test and performance anxiety in parallel to our tutoring sessions. Jen and I met four times before my final GMAT attempt, and I believe that it was the best decision I made. She taught me mindfulness, breathing techniques, mantras, and visualization to practice during study sessions and on exam day. Not only did I find them practical for GMAT, but they also helped me in my everyday life.” MinGMAT2021 on GMAT Club
“Passionate. Superior mentorship. Content mastery. Delivers. Dana is all of these and much more. With her in my corner, I overcame 18 months of test-taking anxiety and achieved my 700+ dream score that got me into Harvard.” – Dinos on GMAT Club
“Outside of my actual problems with GMAT concepts, I realized that my issue was a lot with test anxiety. [Harry] shared insightful materials to help with my personal habits and focus on mindfulness….” – mdamn698 on GMAT Club
“I cannot say enough positive things about my experience working with Dana (especially if you have test anxiety!). She's patient, empathetic, honest, and she knew how exactly to address my concerns in a productive manner as it related to test anxiety.” – Suvy11 on GMAT Club

We’ll be honest: we can’t really take full credit for these ridiculous GMAT scores, because anybody who scores THIS high is incredibly talented. But in case you’re wondering: yes, some of our students get really high scores, and then graciously say nice things about us afterwards.

“I would definitely say that I feel like a new person after the GMAT experience, and GMAT ninja was the engine that let me do this.” – Ludovicog on GMAT Club, +160 points
“Given the size of the task ahead, it was easy on occasion to lose focus/spirit and whenever this happened, [Mike] would find a way to get me fired up again.” – Forman88 on GMAT Club, +200 points
“Prior to starting with GMAT Ninja, I was scoring between a 6 [1st percentile] and 21 [23rd percentile] in the verbal section of the GMAT… Within roughly 2 months, I sat for the GMAT and my verbal score was at a 40 [89th percentile]!” – DK64 on GMAT Club, +190 points

“Before I was introduced to Charles, my journey with the GMAT had spanned more than 2 years and included 3 different tutors along with mountains of frustration. I took the exam 3 times and could not get out of the mid-600s. I had hired a private Manhattan tutor as well as 2 separate private independent tutors. No matter what I did or how many different books I bought my score would not budge… ” – Robert D on Yelp, from 660 to 740
“I had been studying for ~1 year before I reached out to GMATNinja. I had used a very popular GMAT online course for both quant and verbal prior to tutoring, and although I felt like I knew all the rules for the test, my execution was erratic….” – Uzlony18 on GMAT Club, from 660 to 760

“[Mike] is both hugely talented, professional and insightful while at the same time bringing a level of fun and energy into the classroom that kept me looking forward to the next lesson (something I didn't know was possible with Maths!). – Forman88 on GMAT Club
“If you need another reason to work with GMAT Ninja, they write their own word problems for their worksheets, most of which are hilarious and entertaining. I would've had a hard time imagining I would ever be smiling while studying for the GMAT!” – johnsull91 on GMAT Club

“Charles, GMAT Ninja’s founder, is awesome and a spicy food fiend with great Thai recs…” – mbaburner01 on GMAT Club
“Also, they have great taste in terms of food. So, you can be sure that your money will be spent wisely.” – Ludovicog on GMAT Club. (Ludovicog is Italian, so this is a tremendous compliment.)
