For years, I’ve worked with students to perfect their applications to a wide variety of programs, including top law schools, MBA courses, undergraduate programs, and military officer training schools (really, I’m not making that last part up). We all know that the GMAT is a pretty darned important part of MBA admissions, but the whole point of taking the GMAT is to catch the eye of the admissions committee and make them love you. I can help you to put some sizzle in your essays, give the adcom a complete picture of your achievements, and add extra depth and flair to your candidacy–all of which will (hopefully) make the adcom love you even more than a 750 GMAT score would.
Here’s what we can do for you:
Create Your Admissions “Marketing Strategy”
I specialize in helping candidates design a balanced, well-rounded application to their top-choice programs. Instead of approaching each essay as an individual task, I can help you to view your application from the viewpoint of MBA admissions committees. You’ll learn to emphasize your strengths, avoid redundancies, and allay any fears the MBA admissions officers might have about you–all while providing a charismatic and engaging story for your target business schools.
School Selection
Not sure where to apply? I can help you to identify MBA schools which match your interests, profile, and personality. As is my style, I’ll offer (politely) honest assessments of your chances of admission at your target business schools. If you want to get into MIT but have mediocre work experience and a sub-600 GMAT, I’ll (gently) encourage you to focus your efforts elsewhere. If you just want to find an interesting MBA program that suits your needs, I’ll do everything I can to point you in the right direction.
Essay Editing
Once you’ve chosen topics for your MBA essays or personal statements, we’ll help you to survive the process of writing and polishing your application. Depending on your individual needs, I will often enlist an additional “line editor” who can help us to further perfect your writing.
Keep in mind that top MBA programs receive thousands of applications, each of which consists of four or more essays. As depressing as it might sound, it’s awfully tough for the admissions committee to read every single essay carefully (click here for some interesting admissions math), so it’s crucial that you make your essays lively, interesting, and engaging. We can help you to make your MBA essays shine, regardless of the topic.
Mock Interviews
I have been very fortunate to work with extremely personable, well-spoken students, but I am happy to arrange mock MBA admissions interviews for those who wish to gain extra confidence in their skills. Based on your choice of schools, we’ll arrange meetings with carefully-chosen mock interviewers who will prepare you perfectly for your encounters during the MBA admissions process. Depending on your location, we can arrange either in-person interviews, or a telephone interview with a complete stranger who thoroughly understands the MBA admissions process.
Hey, wait a minute… does this really work?
We have an outstanding rate of success, and we can send you references or testimonials if that’s your thing. In recent years, my students have gained admission to HBS, MIT, Wharton, Columbia, Cornell, and the University of Chicago, just to name a few top schools. We’ve seen countless (unsolicited) merit-based scholarship offers, and several of my students have specifically received positive feedback from schools on the quality of their essays and interviews.
So, yeah, it seems to work. To get more of an idea of how I approach MBA admissions, feel free to search the blog or contact me with questions.
